Pacifica Housing redeveloped and densified 616 Goldstream Avenue by replacing a ten-unit townhouse building with a 64-unit apartment building. The four-storey building is comprised of studio, one, two, three, and four-bedroom units to provide affordable housing to varying sizes of families.

Westbrook Consulting was engaged by the building contractor, TL Housing Solutions as the civil engineering consultant to provide the detailed design for site grading, storm water management, and site servicing. As a result of the building being a large wood frame structure, which required high fire flows, the municipal watermain was required to be upgraded from a 150mm diameter main to a 300mm diameter main.

The storm water management system was designed such that 100 % of the rainfall runoff is infiltrated to the ground, mimicking the predevelopment condition.

A challenge of the project included the design and installation of the new waterman, which was to be located near mature boulevard trees, which were desired to remain, whilst also keeping the existing main operational until the switch over could occur.

The project was completed in autumn of 2018.
