Burgoyne Bay Septage Receiving Facility
The Opportunity
In 2017, the Capital Regional District upgraded the existing Burgoyne Bay Septage Receiving Facility on Salt Spring Island. The Burgoyne Bay Septage Receiving Facility is a transfer station for septic waste, from where it is transported off island. The upgrades to the facility included a new septage receiving station, new holding tanks and a new roof water detention system.
The Approach
The CRD engaged Westbrook Consulting to complete the drafting for the facility upgrades. Our design team worked with the CRD project manager to prepare tender and contract drawings in AutoCAD Civil 3D. Our design team also supported the CRD project manager during construction by preparing both sketches to accompany site changes and record drawings once construction was completed.
During the construction period, Nicole Fischer, our Salt Spring Island based engineer, carried out site inspections upon request by the CRD. Nicole worked with the CRD and liaised between the contractors and the CRD project manager located in Victoria.
The Result
The Burgoyne Bay Septage Receiving Facility was completed in 2017.
